Panga: Here's How Kangana Ranaut Trained To Lose 'Post-Pregnancy Weight' For Her Character
For Kangana Ranaut playing a pro kabaddi wrestler in Panga was piece of cake as she just learned a few basic moves and the actress grasped the techniques in matter of time, thanks to her trainer Gauri Wadekar who has represented India twice on international platforms
For the first time, Kangana Ranaut will be essaying a wrestler character in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s directorial venture Panga. In the film, the actress is playing a mother and former National-level kabaddi who tries to achieve her dreams by making a comeback in wrestling post pregnancy. Every actor goes through a certain prep whenever doing some challenging roles. For the same, Ranaut too went through rigorous training for the role but she made it look like a piece of cake when she grasped the kabaddi technique like a pro, all thanks to her trainer Gauri Wadekar who has represented India twice on international platforms.
Her trainer recently spoke to Mumbai Mirror about Kangana’s training and how she was impressed with the actress’s quick grasp of the techniques. She also said that she awestruck to see Kangana picking up the dodging technique just by mere observing. She was quoted saying, “Kangana told me to teach her the basic moves in our first meeting itself. I was shocked as I teach young girls, and even they take almost six months to reach that level of training. Kangana picked up the dodging technique just by observing it a couple of times. I was awestruck."
Talking more about her training sessions, she said to the portal, "Starting at 8 am every day, we would train for two hours. Kangana never missed a session and was punctual throughout. We shot in Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai in different weathers, but Kangana’s dedication never wavered.”
Given that Kangana portrays a kabaddi player at two different stages of life, pre and post pregnancy, the training had to design it accordingly. The trainer told that Kangana had to weigh more than usual for the post-pregnancy shoot, so for that segment, they focused on gaining muscle rather than losing weight, as per the quote said on the portal.
Panga also stars Jassi Gill and Neena Gupta and Richa Chadha. The film is expected to release on January 24, 2020, clashing it with Street Dancer 3D.
